As part of the Bedford Day Options program, the Panorama client group recently went to Tree Climb in Kuitpo Forest. The clients had a fun, physical and inspiring day out in one of our beautiful state forests, and many of the participants experienced TreeClimb for the first time.

What does accessibility at TreeClimb look like?

When we say that our climbs at TreeClimb are "accessible," we mean that they are designed to be inclusive and usable by people of various abilities.
Here’s what accessibility encompasses:

  1. Physical Accessibility: Unfortunately not all of our courses are accessible, it is important you discuss with us any limitations prior to booking so our trained crew can help you plan your visit. This will ensure you all get the most out of your time at TreeClimb.

  2. Cognitive Accessibility: We provide clear, simple instructions that are displayed via text throughout the courses and in the venue. Safety instructions are demonstrated verbally and visually through video and by our crew throughout the climb. Our crew provides support for those with cognitive disabilities to ensure that everyone can understand and enjoy the experience.

  3. Emotional Accessibility: Our supportive and trained staff are ready to assist climbers who may feel anxious or uncertain, helping them to build confidence and enjoy their climb. We offer free climbs for companions, allowing those who need the reassurance of a familiar face to assist their clients in the trees. *Must have a valid companion card.

  4. Sensory Accessibility: We strive to make our climbs enjoyable for individuals with sensory impairments. While nature and safety considerations do limit some aspects of our accommodations, we can still make small adjustments to enhance your experience. For instance, we can lower the music volume in our Eco Hut, harness the climber separately or provide alternatives to mandatory items like wristbands and gloves. *We suggest climbing during off-peak times when the venue is quieter and less crowded.

Recommended Experiences

The following suggestions are based on how adaptable our courses are. Do not let this limit you, if you would like to give one of our other experiences a go and you’re not quite sure if it will be suitable or not, give us a call to discuss, and together we can work out how to get the most out of your visit.

Nets Adventure

The Nets adventure is excellent for climbers with various physical and intellectual disabilities due to its harness-free design, making it less intimidating and more comfortable. The rooms within the Nets Adventure are spacious providing plenty of room to either sit and take in the surroundings or play.
The slide finish adds a fun and safe descent.

Our Nets Adventure is an accessible experience for all users with a carer as long as stair access can be navigated.

Family Experience

The Family Experience allows adults to climb the Grand Course together with their little ones, making it an ideal activity for families and adding another accessible experience to our venues. While support workers have always been able to climb with their clients on the Grand Course, smaller climbers under 135cm previously required extra crew assistance as adults are not allowed on our Kids Course. Now, support workers can accompany these smaller climbers (at least 125cm or taller), providing a more inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.

The Family Experience is the combined cost of a General Admission and Student Admission ticket. This ticket simply provides a child between 125cm and 135cm the opportunity to climb our Grand Course with the assistance of an accompanied adult. Check out our FAQS
